Claire Huangci, piano

American pianist Claire Huangci gained international recognition by winning first prize and the Mozart Prize at the 2018 Concours Géza Anda, as well as awards at other major competitions.

Claire Huangci has been working with Alpha Classics since the 2024–2025 season. A highly acclaimed recording with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg featuring Mozart's piano concertos was followed by the release of her solo album Made in USA, featuring works by American composers Gershwin, Beach, Barber, and Wild. Another recital album focusing on German and American female composers is planned for 2026.

Kicking off a series of international orchestral engagements, Claire Huangci will make her debut with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rheinische Philharmonie, the Santa Rosa Symphony, and the North Carolina Symphony in 25/26. Another highlight was her performance at the closing concert of the Carinthian Summer with Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F together with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Marin Alsop.

Claire Huangci has performed solo recitals and as a partner to international orchestras in major concert halls such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Wiener Konzerthaus, and the Festspielhaus in Salzburg. She is a welcome guest at renowned festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, and the Ruhr Piano Festival.

Her valued musical partners include the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Munich and Basel Chamber Orchestras, and conductors Carl St. Clair, Elim Chan, Michael Francis, Howard Griffiths, Pietari Inkinen, Jun Märkl, Cornelius Meister, Eva Ollikainen, Alexander Shelley, Mario Venzago, and Thomas Guggeis.

Born in Rochester, New York, Claire showed an early affinity for the piano and was invited to the White House in 1999 at the age of nine. She studied with Gary Graffman and Eleanor Sokoloff at the Curtis Institute of Music before moving to Hanover to continue her studies with Arie Vardi. Claire is a proud ambassador for Henle Publishers and artistic director of the Erbach Chamber Concerts.
