Concert: Monday, 05.04.2027, 7:30 p.m.

Yulianna Avdeeva, piano

Solo recital “Soundscapes” with works by Boulez, Ravel, and Chopin.

Yulianna Avdeeva creates a fascinating backdrop that ranges from poetic timbre to radical modernism. All four composers are united by their search for new soundscapes beyond traditional forms: Chopin's revolutionary piano poetry, Debussy's impressionistic timbres, Boulez's structural precision, and Fujikura's contemporary sound imagination. Over generations, they have expanded our hearing and our perception. A dialogue between past and present in which sound is constantly reimagined.

PROGRAM

Yuliana Avdeeva is one of the most distinguished pianists of her generation. Winning first prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2010—one of the most prestigious awards worldwide—launched her international career.
Yulianna initially trained at the renowned Gnessin Music School and later continued her studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, where she received formative artistic inspiration. Since then, Yuliana Avdeeva has been a regular guest with all the leading orchestras, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She works with the most important conductors. A particular focus of her repertoire is on the works of Chopin, Schumann, and Prokofiev, but she is also committed to contemporary music. In the 2025/26 season, Juliana Avdeeva will devote herself intensively to her latest focus, Dmitri Shostakovich's 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87, which was released on Pentatone in 2025 and which she performs worldwide – including in Genoa and in special chamber concerts with the Belcea Quartet. Numerous important performances are scheduled for 2026: a piano recital with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the Philharmonie Berlin on June 17, a concert with the

WDR Symphony Orchestra at the Konzerthaus Dortmund in May, as well as other solo recitals and chamber music projects worldwide. Passionate expressiveness, tonal sensitivity, and uncompromising artistic honesty—qualities that make her interpretations, especially of Chopin and Shostakovich, haunting and unmistakable musical experiences.
