Zug Sinfonietta
The Zug Sinfonietta was founded in 1998. Innovative concert programs have been important to it since its inception. In 2016, the “Chamer Klassik Abos” was launched in the Lorzensaal Cham, which quickly became very popular. At the start of the 2023/2024 season, the “Zuger Klassik Abo” was introduced in collaboration with the Theater Casino Zug | TMGZ. This means that the professional orchestra plays its four subscription concerts twice each.
The Zug Sinfonietta performs in its concerts with nationally and internationally renowned artists. These include Beatrice Berrut, Sebastian Bohren, Ian Bostridge, Simon Bürki, Viviane Chassot, Teo Gheorghiu, Maximilian Hornung, Esther Hoppe, Céline Moinet, Regula Mühle- mann, Olli Mustonen, Christian Poltéra, Oliver Schnyder, Louis Schwizgebel, Julian Steckel, Maurice Steger, Tanja Tetzlaff, Mario Venzago, and Tianwa Yang. The Zug Sinfonietta is also committed to promoting young artists.
Daniel Huppert has been principal conductor of the Zug Sinfonietta since the 2016/2017 concert season. Lion Gallusser has been artistic director since 2021. Huppert and Gallusser share artistic leadership. In addition to its own subscription concerts, the Zug Sinfonietta plays extra concerts
(e.g., with the Audite Nova choir and other music organizations), lunch concerts (in collaboration with the City Church of Zug), and other projects with regional and national partners (e.g., with Zug municipalities and concert organizers). Music education and young concert audiences are also important pillars of the orchestra's identity. The corresponding offerings have been steadily expanded in recent years. The Zug Sinfonietta is actively committed to modern and sustainable concert operations.
