Julian Trevelyan, Pianist

Julian Trevelyan is a British musician. In 2021, he achieved second place at the Géza Anda Competition in Zurich, simultaneously winning the Mozart Prize and the Audience Award. At the age of 16, he was the grand prize winner and also the youngest winner of the Marguerite Long Competition in Paris. He has won further prizes at the Ile de France (France), Dudley (UK), Dumortier (Belgium), and Kissinger Piano Olympus (Germany) competitions.

Supported by Patrick Masure, Julian studied piano and composition in Paris at the École Normale Alfred Cortot. He studied with Rena Shereshevskaya during his studies and has been working as her assistant since fall 2021. Julian is Composer in Residence at the Ensemble Dynamique Paris. He is an alumnus of the Lieven International Piano Foundation Hamburg.

During his education, Julian was taught by Christopher Elton, Elizabeth Altman, and Rita Wagner. He studied musicology at Oxford University and also holds a diploma in geology.

Julian currently lives and works in Paris. In his free time, he leads a string quartet, plays period instruments, and is part of a Mandarin a cappella choir. He enjoys reading, cooking, sports, and speaks English, French, German, and Italian.
