Rudolf Buchbinder

His credo: “We cannot live better than in seeking to become better.” ( Socrates )

Rudolf Buchbinder is one of the legendary and most important interpreters of our time. The authority of a career spanning more than 60 years is uniquely combined with esprit and spontaneity in his piano playing. At the age of 5 he played hits, as a teenager in bars. Today he is a piano legend and festival director and has been shaping international musical life for 60 years. His piano playing combines tradition and innovation, faithfulness to the original and freedom, authenticity and cosmopolitanism in a unique way.

The work of Ludwig van Beethoven accompanied Buchbinder his whole life. Like no other pianist, he has tackled Beethoven's piano concertos and piano sonatas. In 2021, he published two extraordinary editions of these works: Buchbinder recorded the 5 piano concertos with 5 world-class orchestras and conductors as well as all 32 Beethoven piano sonatas.
