Claire Huangci
‘Such alertness to shifting soundscapes alone would make this release stand out, but its impact is heightened by Huangci's technical prowess and expressive power.’
American pianist Claire Huangci gained international acclaim by winning first prize and the Mozart Prize at the Concours Géza Anda 2018 and awards at other major competitions, including Chopin competitions in Europe and the USA, the ARD Music Competition and the Grand Prix of the Paris Play-Direct Academy.
Her playing is characterised by confident and bright interpretations, breathtaking virtuosity, as well as intelligent and thoughtful sound design. Inspired by an irrepressible spirit of discovery, she demonstrates her versatility with an unusually broad repertoire ranging from Bach and Scarlatti to German and Russian Romanticism, Bernstein, Barber and Florence Price.
Claire Huangci's 24/25 season is packed with exciting projects, starting with a new collaboration with Alpha Classics. Following a highly acclaimed recording with the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg of piano concertos by Mozart, she continued with the release of her solo album Made in USA featuring works by American composers Gershwin, Beach, Barber and Wild.

Born in Rochester, New York, Claire showed an early love of the piano and was invited to the White House in 1999 at the age of nine. She studied with Gary Graffman and Eleanor Sokoloff at the Curtis Institute of Music before moving to Hanover for further studies with Arie Vardi. Claire is a proud ambassador of the Henle publishing house and artistic director of the Erbach Chamber Concerts.
