Ariel Lanyi

In 2021, Ariel won third prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition, performing Brahms Concerto No. 2 in the final with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Andrew Manze. In 2023, he received the Prix Serdang, endowed with CHF 50,000. This Swiss music prize is curated by the renowned pianist Rudolf Buchbinder.

Last season, Ariel Lanyi made his Grafenegg Festival debut with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Antonello Manacorda, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major, K. 488. He also made his debut with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Ariel returned to Austria in January 2025 for a CD recording with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and Howard Griffith. He has also performed in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, and Belgium.

Highlights of recent seasons include a CD production with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, recitals at the Kissinger Festsommer, the Fundaçion Juan March in Madrid, and Wigmore Hall. Ariel has also performed as a soloist and chamber musician at the Miami International Piano Festival, the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont, and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.

He has made his debut concerts at the Homburg Master Concerts, at the Perth Concert Hall (broadcast by BBC Radio 3), at the Menton Festival, and at the Oxford International Piano Series. He has also performed as a soloist with orchestras in the United Kingdom, Israel, and the United States. In 2021, Linn Records released his critically acclaimed Schubert recording, and in 2025, Linn Records released "Organ Reflection," featuring works by Mozart, Franck, and Reger.

Ariel was born in Jerusalem, where he studied with Lea Agmon and Yuval Cohen. He lives in London and graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with Hamish Milne and Ian Fountain.
